The London Renters Union is hiring!
Are you passionate about building power and tackling the housing crisis? Want to work for a radical, fighting union that organises renters across the city and wins? The London Renters Union is hiring!
Set up by campaigns and local housing groups from across the city, we’ve achieved big things since we launched London-wide 18 months ago. We’ve supported dozens of our members to win improvements to their housing situation by standing up for their rights and taking direct action. We’ve linked up with other housing groups to force the Tory government to announce an end to no-fault evictions.
We’re now hiring three new staff members to join our two existing staff in supporting our members to grow the union, organise renters and win.
Above all else, we’re looking for people who believe in the power of community to get organised and create change and who can inspire and empower our members to organise collective struggles. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you, even if you’ve never done this kind of job before.
The pay for all positions is £24,277 per year. All positions are 4 days per week and fixed term for 2 years, with the intention of the role becoming permanent depending on the union’s financial situation. Holiday pay, sick pay, expenses and money towards counselling is provided to all workers.
The deadline for applications is 8pm on February 4. Interviews are scheduled to take place during the week starting February 10.
Details on how to apply and full terms and conditions are in each of the full job adverts at the links below.
2 x Organisers
We’re hiring two organisers to support our branches to develop and build their power. For the first year at least, one of these organisers will be working mainly to support our Hackney branch while the other organiser will focus mainly on our Lewisham branch. Once they’re settled in, both organisers will also support one other group.

Member solidarity organiser
The Member Solidarity Organiser will support our members and branches to take action against landlords and estate agents and win better housing conditions for our members. They will balance knowledge of the housing system with an ability to empower renters to use different tactics to stand up to landlords, from peer support to resisting evictions through direct action.

We’ve linked up with Living Rent and ACORN to urge the government to take urgent action to protect renters from the Coronavirus rent crisis
Renters are being forced to choose between paying rent or buying food and other essentials. Many renters are already in debt. Fear of eviction and rent debt is forcing people to go out and work rather than staying home. Unless the government introduces greater...
