Haringey Member Solidarity trainings – Wednesday 15th & 22nd November, 6.30-8.30
The Haringey London Renters Union branch are hosting a two part training for Haringey residents and members who want to fight to transform our housing system.
Part 1: Renters Rights – Wednesday 15th November 2023, 6.30-8.30pm – North London Community House, 22 Moorfield Road, Tottenham, N17 6PY
This training is for all members of the Haringey branch of London Renters Union and local residents who want to learn more about their rights. Knowing our rights can help us feel confident to stand up to landlords and letting agents!
This training will cover issues that many renters experience, including how to resist evictions, demand repairs are made, negotiate lower rent rises, get our deposits back, and deal with landlord harassment. There will be time to ask questions, meet other members of the branch and hear more about how you can get more involved.
This training is open to non-members too!
Part 2: Disputes – Wednesday 22nd November 2023, 6.30-8.30pm – North London Community House, 22 Moorfield Road, Tottenham, N17 6PY
This training is for all members of the Haringey branch of London Renters Union who want to learn about how and why we fight disputes. Launching public disputes with landlords is one of the main ways that we build our power as a union and improve the housing conditions of our members!
This training will cover what we mean by a dispute, how and why we fight them, how we strategise together & different uses of tactics and direct action. We will use role play exercises to practice some of these ideas together.
We will close the training by exploring how you can get involved in active disputes in our branch and put these lessons into action!
There will be food & snacks available at both of these trainings.
