Online members meeting: discussing collective action in response to the Coronavirus rent crisis

To allow renters to stay at home and not spread the virus, and to prevent renters from going into debt and facing eviction, the London Renters Union is calling for universal rent suspension for the duration of the Coronavirus lockdown. Almost 100,000 people have signed the ‘Protect Renters During Coronavirus!’ petition supporting our demands.

We’ve now got to make some big decisions about what further action to take. The Union’s Coordinating Group (made up of elected members to represent each working group and branch in the union) is conducting a survey of our members about what we can do to win our demands. The survey shall be emailed to all members and will be open until midday on Thursday 9 April.

We will use the video conferencing app Zoom, and  the link you need to access the meeting will be sent out by email.. Zoom can be used on a computer, tablet or phone. If you haven’t used Zoom it might be worth having a go with it beforehand. We can support you to get it set up if you need.
