Tell your MP: rent controls now!

Back in December, hundreds of us protested in central London to demand rent controls. It was a beautiful and powerful action, and it was widely covered in the media.
On Tuesday, parliament will have its final vote on the Renters Rights Bill. This Bill will ban Section 21 evictions and is a big step forward that shows the power of our movement.
At the same time, there’s nothing in the bill to introduce rent controls. We’ll still have to live with the constant fear of being driven out of our house by a rent rise. This city should belong to us, not to landlords and developers!
Some MPs have tabled amendments to the bill about rent controls in response to campaigning by LRU and others. Use the form below to ask your MP to support these amendments on Tuesday.
The government has a big majority in parliament so it’s unlikely that these amendments will be approved. But the more MPs vote for the amendments, the more pressure that will be piled on the government to introduce rent controls in the future.
