August 24: London-wide day of action against evictions!

Hackney action: Meet 10:30am at Gee Street Magistrates Court, EC1V 3RE
Newham & Leytonstone action: Meet 12:30am at Stratford Magistrates Court, E15 4SB
Lewisham action: Meet 12pm midday at Catford Broadway
Join the London-wide day of action against evictions on 24 August – we’ll be taking action outside county courts across London on the day that eviction hearings restart.
The last few months have shown that evictions aren’t a necessary part of life. The government committed to ending no fault evictions over a year ago – our Covid rent arrears are not our fault. We won’t let the government’s plans go unchallenged – we have to stand up for ourselves as renters, to protect each other, and to stop evictions.
We will take action outside county courts across London, where eviction hearings are taking place. We’ll make it loud and clear: the government should cancel rent debt and make the eviction ban permanent and renters are ready to resist evictions if they don’t.
We’ll do everything we can to make these actions Covid-safe. They’ll be social distancing stewards, protective equipment and safety briefings and all of our actions.
But we know and respect that lots of our members still aren’t going outside or far from their homes. If you can’t join one of our action outside a court, there are many other things you can do on the day.
Let us know how you’d like to join and we’ll be in touch soon
